I have just finished reading your beautiful manuscript on Errol Flynn.Wow!It is one of the most moving pieces I have ever read in my life.Needless to say,I am an Errol afficionado.I am also a member of Errol-Flynn-Groups@yahoogroups.com.I have been an Errol fan since I was 5 years old.I met a gentleman once who claimed to be Errol's grandson.He said that he had an out-of -body experience and visited Errol in a netherworld,where he was stuck for the moment,doing penance for his sins.I wasn't sure what to make of it at the time,but after reading what you wrote,my God,what can I say?

Thank you so much for getting Errol to Heaven.I also wrote a booklenght manuscript on Errol that I could never get published.I also wrote it on the internet,after realizing I would never get it published.Please contact us,join our group,e-mail me back.I too defended Errol in my manuscript.It's true that the man deserves so much compassion,but not pity. He was a good man,and it warms my heart that thanks to you,the man is finally at peace.God bless you.What you preach makes a whole lot of sense to me,because I too am a metaphysical Catholic. Thank you for your quick reply.How did I get involved with Errol? Wow,where do I begin?The story of how I became acquainted is the basis of my unpublished manuscript on him,that I wrote at about the same time you did,titled,In Search of Errol Flynn.It is such a long story I will try to somehow condense it.I was born in a land that Errol loved very much,Cuba.At the age of about 4, my dad,who greatly resembles Errol (And I've been told by some that I resemble Sean),was a big Errol fan. We used to watch a lot of his movies.From an early age I decided to make Errol my favorite actor as well.Sorry,but I used to love when my father told that he was a bit of a rascal with his leading ladies.

I came to the states in 1960,after the Castro revolution.I grew up continuing to watch Errol's movies.At this time I had no interest in his personal life.One day I found out the Bette Davis was going to be on the Dick Cavett show and was going to speak about Errol's autobiography.I had no idea he had one.This was about 1974.

After I watched the program,I knew I just had to have that autobi.I went to the Los Angeles public library in Downtown LA,and found out that the bio was out,Even after all this time,he was still popular.There were however two reference books that I couldn't take out,but I could read there.One was a chapter on E,from the book.Cads and Cavaliers,and the other was The Films of Errol Flynn,by my favorite biographer of his,Tony Thomas.

I read the entire book in one sitting I became fascinated.The fims were great,but it was his personal life that intrigued me.I was 20 years old,and the adventure this man was leading me into was unlike any other I had ever undertaken in my life.

To make along story short,I came in a few weeks later and took out his bio.I felt like I had an ancient scroll of the centuries in my hand.At this time,I had personally been going through a bad time.My granfather had died on my 21st birthday,I had had my nose broken in a holdup attemt at a store I worked at.and my best friend got together with my then love.

I walked into Hollywood Presbeterian Hospital for surgery on my broken nose.The only thing I had with me was E's auto..I couldn't put the book down.It made me laugh, histerically,It made me weep.At one moment it was three o'clock in the morning,and I was still reading.As I read by the small light of the little hospital lamp,I read how Errol read about his heros by the light of the little hurricane lamp in the jungles of New Guniea.It was as if he was passing the torch of ancient knowledge to me.Ther is so much more,but I will stop now.Needless to say.I feel as if I have a connection with Errol.I belong to Errol-Flynn-groups@yahoogroups.com.Lili is one of the moderators.I would love for you to join us.I'll continue the story on our next correspondence if you would like.

Dear Don Carlos....

It's great getting your letters about Errol. As I read your letter and thought about him I felt his presence with me the whole time. It was a feeling of love, that he was glad we were talking about him in a loving way and was with us.

I have put your letter on the site and intend to put any subsequent letters from you and other interested parties on a page called "Reactions to the Errol Flynn Book." Lily has not yet answered me. What you said about your personal experiences will strike a chord in many souls. Women were infatuated with him, and guys were amused and many would like to be like him. What bravado, what machoism, and what foolhardy bravery! What escapades, what adventures! His real life as interesting as his movies. Yes, I would like to know more about your personal relationship to the Flynn persona. I grew to love him deeply from the intimacy of the Purgatory connection. Let me know more about your manuscript and give some excerpts. Also, I did not know about the Terry Thomas book. Let me know about that. People are still trying to make money from him - what a legend! Sadly, some people write ugly stuff which isn't even true. The bad was bad enough, why add to it?

Let me continue my story.As I lay in that hospital bed,little did I realize how profound a change would come over me,The book gave me confidence,and,sorry again, a new approach to women.No,I didn't set out to bed as many as I could.I was just going to stop being their victim.I would just let them come to me.Be a bit bolder and confident with them.For two and 1/2 years it worked.

But, as I was to find out earlier this year,Jeffrey Myers mentioned something in his book on Errol and Sean,entitled,Inherited Risk,about Sean Flynn being put to death by his Viet Namese capters,in March of 1975.Where was I in March of 1975?.......Having surgery on my broken nose in the hospital,and in the pRocess of reading Errol's bio.My belief was that the spirit of Sean needed an outlet,a place to go.He found me,with the energy of Errol in my mind,in a very vulnerable state.He became a 'walk-in spirit ',and was with me for those two and one/half years.

I could't stop raving about Errol at the hospital.What a great man,what an adventurous life!But a lot of people didn't want to hear it.They called him a lecher,a pervert ,and other such not nice things.It was all a bunch of jealous balderdash.But I had to find out.

There were three things I had to do.One was to go put flowers on his grave at Forest Lawn,as a gesture of thanks and respect.The other was to do my best to try to get his son,whom at the time I had found out was a prisoner in Viet Nam rescued.The third,was to write a book about my experience with Errol,and give him the tribute he deserved.In my quest to do all this,I was to make quite a few more discoveries about Errol and myself.I'll continue with more next time.Please,if you can ask him,ask Errol,why me.I'm still not totally sure.

From Errol to Don Carlos,

I am forever grateful that my fans still find in me a robust character that they can relate to. Tell Don Carlos his great love and identification with me is appreciated. Anything he's done to clear my name and bring a little more love for me into the world is taken into account. When I was a young man I made many mistakes, and I paid for them. Don't make the same mistakes I did. Pay attention to Rasa, who helped me do penance for my sins. I was a good man at heart, but I was mislead in the area of women; thinking that they were all made to have sex with someone, and preferably me. Imitate my good traits, but not my bad ones. I had many good qualities. I was generous to women and dependable to my chums. I just think a lot of men identify with parts of me that I had to pay for, and I don't want these blokes to suffer the way I did. Rasa is trying to present my story in a way that men can understand it and get something out of it that makes sense in this life and in the next. Don't identify with Errol the Hell raiser, the addict to drugs and sex, but identify with Errol who knew how to have fun in life and saw its brightness - until it all turned dull. As you saw in the manuscript Rasa wrote, I was not proud of myself toward the end of my life. I am in Heaven now, Don Carlos and fans. I can give you so much. You can even pray to me, for I am now a Saint, one of God's chosen. I'm so glad to be here and not down there. I don't want to spoil your good times. Be adventurous, be bold and daring, but do it in the right way. Have respect and love for women rather than using them for your own gratification alone. Many Godspeed blessings to you all!
